My Approach
My practice focus is to serve and support women with the unique challenges women encounter, such as motherhood and daughterhood. Mental health can be greatly influenced by life changes and the different seasons of our lives. Perhaps your are preparing to start or leave college, or preparing to be a parent, exploring past trauma, entering menopause. I view these tender times as an opportunity to grow and become more resilient versions of ourselves. Common conditions I treat are ADHD, anxiety, bipolar disorder, binge eating, depression, grief, mood spectrum, and insomnia. I offer comprehensive initial assessment and ongoing medication management.
My personality style is informal, practical, and sincere. You will find I put high value on laughter and the love of dogs! I utilize evidence-based practice perspectives to address emotional and mental health issues in a thoughtful, caring, and comprehensive manner, rooted in the core values of nursing. I am deeply committed to the care of my patients and embrace a collaborative style.
My treatment approach is a belief that understanding who a person is, is as important as understanding the illness they are struggling with. I follow a holistic approach; meaning to seek a complete picture (life circumstance, background, cultural perspectives, physical health, etc.) and view the mind-body connection as important to our overall well-being.
Emotional wellness involves a combination of treatment modalities, ideally more than psychiatric medication alone. Working with a therapist, regular contact with a primary care provider to monitor overall health, lifestyle adjustments to diet, sleep, and exercise are often suggested. Some individuals find reducing and/or eliminating alcohol or cannabis use improves overall mental wellness, as these can sometimes become problematic forms of self-medication.
I believe alternative therapies like acupuncture and massage can play a crucial part in your healing journey. My goal is to utilize as few medications as possible to gain maximum benefit while minimizing potential side effects.

Professional Background
Prior to returning to graduate school to become a Nurse Practitioner, I worked in a variety of settings as a Registered Nurse. My career as a nurse began serving women with critical needs in the Oregon Department of Corrections. I have worked extensively in community settings, serving those without homes and those impacted by generational trauma and inequalities. I found this work challenging, but it inspired me to see kindness, humanity, and empathy in places one might not expect. I believe that timely and compassionate access to mental health care is greatly needed and should be available to all who seek it. These experiences led me to further my nursing practice by seeking an advanced nursing degree.
